We've come to the end of the deck! These roaring lions are the last of my animated cards. Although there isn't one particular card in the deck I would consider to be "the goal" (like the World card in the Tarot), getting a handle on the lion feels to me like a key part of this journey. As kids we learn to repress our anger and grief because obviously we can't go around throwing tantrums. But those repressed emotions are like a lion trapped in the tree of our personality, just waiting for any occasion to turn up. Out of nowhere you get a burst of anger, a crying spell, and there's nothing you can do to stop it! The alchemists in the middle ages had a great image for this: a green lion devouring the sun. The bird in the Sufferer leaves because that tree is no place to live. But imagine that he journeys through the cards of the deck, taking on colors from the different birds (rooster, crow, sparrow, swallow, robin, nightingale, etc) as he learns from them. While he's gone the lion goes on his own journey through the cards and learns from being a cat, a dog, wolf, raccoon, etc. In the end the tree becomes a baobab and the lion has gained power over himself. Now that inner rage can be used as energy! To get things done, be creative, or simply for living... |

So what happens now? I started the year thinking I was going to animate and write the booklet, and get the decks printed, while getting all my other work done and exploring new ideas. I was a bit over-optimistic! My plan now is to focus on the writing again after the holiday rush (and hopefully not get lured into doing this that and the other thing!). In the meantime, all of the animations are on my website, and they have sound! Take a listen, they're only a few seconds each, it's fun to play one after another. |

Coming soon to my shop
With the holidays approaching fast, I've got some new products in the works for my shop. One is a journal inspired the tale of Sleeping Beauty, it's all about sleep! The notebooks are getting printed right now. Until I can flip through one in a video, here's a little sneak peek of the inside pages below. There's a rose pattern on the inside covers (like the hedge of roses in the tale surrounding the castle), a short synopsis of the tale, tips for getting a good night sleep as well as inspiring quotes throughout. The pages allow you to keep track of how well you slept, whether you dreamed or not, how long you slept, and a space for whatever you want to note down either about your dreams or things from the day before that might have affected your sleep. I think it will make a great gift.

Other gifts ideas in the works are these vegan leather purses (they're very nice! I'll have four designs) and a cloth to go with my Ingenious Zodiac deck, so you can lay out your cards in style.

In other news, my Sleeping Beauty illustration and the deer card from my Ingenious Oracle project are featured in the latest issue from Uppercase magazine! I talk about my process making intuitive art. |
